Operating systems provide control and task management functions while speeding the development and bring-up of system software. Using Tensilica's OSKit™ porting technology, commercially available OS solutions can be fully supported on application-optimized Xtensa configurations, accelerating system development and reducing schedule and technical risk.

Real time operating systems available for Xtensa include ThreadX from Express Logic, uC/OS II from Micrium, Nucleus Plus from Mentor Graphics, ROSES from Tata Elxsi, and open source Linux (see Tensilica's Linux site).
