DAB/MP2 Decoder for HiFi Audio DSPs

Tensilica’s Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) and MP2 Decoder Application Package

Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), is a digital radio broadcast technology deployed in many European countries, Australia, Canada and China.  DAB enables more stations in a given amount of frequency spectrum compared to analog FM along with better immunity to noise and multipath fading in mobile environments.

MP2 (MPEG-1 Layer I/II) is part of both the DAB and DVB standards and is used in digital radio, STB, Video CD, Super Video CD and HDV camcorders.

For anyone designing a chip for home or automobile digital radio systems, STB, optical disc or HDV camcorder products Tensilica's HiFi 2 Audio DSP with the DAB/MP2 decoder provides a proven, approved, drop-in audio solution.

The decoder is a fixed-point implementation written in C and available in object code. Included documentation describes how to incorporate the decoder into a system. System developers can integrate a Dolby Digital Plus decoder into an SOC without the need for additional optimizations or software development. The same Xtensa HiFi 2 Audio Engine is used for other Tensilica audio codecs, enabling the development of highly optimized multi-standard audio SOC designs.
