Research using Tensilica's Technology

 

VLSI Design and Application Research Lab

The design and manufacture of VLSI is supported by the China government and is the most important research field today in China. In the beginning, there was a lack of relative research in the School of Computer Science and Technology at Tianjin University. The lab is composed of researchers interested in VLSI and embedded systems.

Research and Achievement

  • Research Fields - VLSI Design
    The production technique of CMOS has made great progress and reached a deep sub-micron degree. The changing of semiconductor characters may cause many problems and impact the reliability, cost performance and power consuming IC. To solve these problems and complete an IC production, we have set up a model, modeling and test based on ESL technology.
  • The Design and Application of Embedded Systems
    The embedded computer system is a special computer system with strict limitations in function, reliability, cost, size and power consumption. Based ont he computer technology, it is elastic in utilizing the software and hardware. The embedded system has the advantages of full function, lower power consumption, high reliability, etc. It has been an essential device It has been an essential devise in the life and work of the people. The 21st century will the the embedded system ear. We will set up an embedded system hardware platform and operation system and utilize these technologies in the network.
  • The Design of Computer System and Configuration
    The cores of VLSI based on SoC technology are the CPU and DSP, which have the function of control and operation. The frame technology of multi-core is essential to improve the performance of the IC and system. The embedded CPU in SoC design in China mainly utilizes general CPU and DSP from other countries and has the disadvantage of too complex structures, large areas, high power consumption, high price and it cannot reach the best performance in many embedded system applications. We will set up a TTA frame and carry through our research in a computer hardware structure, computer software system and the I/O based on combining the software and hardware.

Projects

Electronic Control System in Car

  • Object: We hope to set up a perfectly control system of a car. This system can give a coordinate control when the car is moving. This activity will be real time and optimum based on the multi parameters inputting and key core arithmetic.
  • Background Introduction: There are many benefits to attach the electronic equipment to a car. The electronic equipment used in the care engine can improve the power performance and reduce the oil loss and prevent air pollution. The brake system can improve the reactive sensitive and save lives.
  • Foundation: A perfectly arithmetic has been developed to simulate the work course of a car engine by us. This model and arithmetic can show the wooer plot and all other relative physics parameter plots based on the different parameters, such as, element of oil, structure of the engine, ignition time, etc.

Internet Traffic Alarm System

  • Object: We hope to set up an advanced forecast and alarm system to the abnormal traffic in the internet.
  • Background Introduction: Today the traffic amount of the internet is very large. There are all kinds of danger and accidents, i.e., DDos (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attack, network congestion, etc. However, there is a lack of perfectly control or solving methods to these problems in the network and the control function of TCP protocol is limited and passive. In face, a precondition to solve the problems must forecast the abnormal traffic and give an alarm.
  • Foundation: We have set up a model to simulate the internet traffic. This model has been proved and includes some special physics parameters. The model as also been tested and compared with other famous models through actual traffic. The comparing results denote our model is better than other models. The relative paper has been published in the Journal of Network and Computer Applications, Elsevier 29(1), 2006:1-10 and to to the Top 25 of this journal. In addition, it is difficult to give the complex traffic a quantitive analysis. We have set up an arithmetic to solve this problem and the relative paper has been published in WILEY International Journal of Communication Systems, 19(1), 2006:53-65.

Human Thinking Simulation System

  • Object: Set up an advanced human thinking simulation systems and perform copying human thinking information.
  • Background Introduction: The US scientists have identified the brain wave and the relative research is in development. The network traffic is similar with the brain wave and they are complex and nonlinear. We want to take the brain wave as a network traffic to modeling it based on the foundation, results and methods of network traffic.
  • Foundation: We have go the perfectly models in power system and internet. These results denote that we have the ability to model a complex system.
