Research

As the Pervasive Computing becomes the computing trend of the next century, the research on the wearable computer has growing popular interest in recent years. Our research on the wearable computing is started in 2002 and the goal of our research is to design a wearable computing system for daily life. At first, we utilized commercially of-the-shelf hardware platforms to design our wearable systems. After experiments through several hardware platforms, we are more ambitious to design a customized wearable computing hardware. Thanks to a company in Taiwan, who has Tensilica's licensed tools, was willing to support our research with their Xtensa chip. Our initial task of using Tensilica tools is to port Linus to the hardware platform based upon that customized Xtensa chip. After successful porting with Linux, a wearable computing application will then design and develop on top of it.

Student/Assistants Outreach

One PhD and two master students will be involved in this project.

We would be highly interested in participating in college recruitment programs with Tensilica.
