Politecnico di Torino

Torino, Italy

The Very Large Scale Integration Laboratory (VLSI Lab) was established in 1987 as a research center of the Department of Electronics at Politecnico di Torino, one of the most important Italian technical universities. Its staff has grown to include currently 20 people (faculty members, research assistants and PhD students). The mission of the VLSI Lab is research and teaching VLSI technologies, circuits and architectures.

Research

The VLSI Lab is using Tensilica technology for the research activity on multiprocessor architectures. In the recent years, more than 6 thesis students have successfully worked with Tensilica processors achieving good results. The VLSI Lab has been producing technical papers on MPSoC systems using Tensilica technology. The current research activity is moving towards the development of graphic architecture as GPUs and PPUs.
