Research Projects

Our major research project is about a high-speed image screening algorithm. In order to achieve faster screening speed, we have moved the algorithm from the general computer platform to FPGA, but its speed is still not satisfying. Also, the FPGA design is not flexible enough because when the algorithm needs to be changed, we have to adjust the FPGA accordingly. Therefore, we urgently need a processor which is fast enough and flexible enough. However, generic ARM processor, the DSP processor and so on, can not meet our demands. Fortunately, the Tensilica configurable processor is the perfect one to improve this situation. We will define our own high efficient instructions and implement our algorithm on Tensilica's processor. Besides using this processor in our research project, we will also use it in our courses, in which the students can study this efficient, innovative electronic design and the realization methods on FPGA platform from the beginning of the logic design to the RTL circuit implementation.

Student/Assistants Outreach

In our project and curriculum, there will be 10 graduates utilizing Tensilica tools and 20 undergraduates studying Tensilica tools. I believe more and more students will become interested in these amazing tools.

Our institution would be honored to join Tensilica's recruiting program.
