SPIRIT and Tensilica Inc. formed a strategic partnership in June 2008. SPIRIT delivers its optimized, high quality digital audio and voice software packages, running on Tensilica's HiFi 2 Audio Engine, an increasingly popular audio architecture for system-on-chip (SOC) designs.

Under the strategic partnership the two companies will work on porting the full SPIRIT Audio and wideband Voice Engines to Tensilica’s HiFi 2 platform. The SPIRIT Voice Engine brings high quality real-time wideband voice and video to next generation VoIP equipment, such as Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), Video IP-phones, video conferencing terminals, IP set-top boxes, residential gateways and multimedia terminal adapters.

The SPIRIT Voice Engine is a part of its TeamSpirit Voice&Video Engine, a comprehensive pre-integrated voice and video processing solution. The Engine includes a library of highly optimized, low-MIPS consuming speech and video codecs, voice and video synchronization tools, speech enhancement algorithms for superior voice quality and network optimizing functionality to handle varying delay (jitter) and packet loss.

The SPIRIT audio software package delivers high-quality music experience even on tightly-constrained SOC platforms. It includes MP3, AAC, AAC+ v1, AAC+ v2, BSAC, SBC and WMA, wrapped in essential set of must-have add-ons like EQ, Sample Rate Converter, Dynamic Range Control and Mixer to provide a complete plug-and-play solution for any vendor.
