PolyCore Software, Inc. (PSI) and Tensilica announced a partnership to make it easier and faster for developers to port their software to, or design software for, integrated circuits with multiple Tensilica dataplane processors (DPUs).

RacyICs offers integrated circuit design, verification and implementation services.

Skyviia Corporation, a multimedia IC design company, has selected the HiFi Audio DSP core for its next-generation multimedia SOC designs.

The NatureDSP Math Library from IntegrIT DSP Design House, a leading supplier of DSP software solutions, is now available for Tensilica’s ConnX BBE16 baseband DSP for SOC design.

Fraunhofer IIS, the world’s renowned source for audio and multimedia technologies, has joined Tensilica’s Xtensions partner network and become an authorized design center. Fraunhofer IIS will support mutual customers with their audio-related SOC designs.

SRS Labs has expanded its audio processing IP portfolio offering for Tensilica processors. SRS audio solutions enable equipped products to restore the natural tonality of recorded audio, making music sound true to the original studio recording and movies and games sound like the listener is actually immersed in the action.

Cavium has licensed Tensilica’s IP for its next-generation wireless broadband products. The Tensilica products selected include Tensilica’s popular baseband IP specialized for channel decode applications and signal processing to achieve best-in-class speed, power and performance.

Audyssey’s audio technology fixes acoustical and perceptual problems to reproduce content as close to the original as possible. This helps ensure that consumers get the best sound from their home theaters, DTVs, automobiles and mobile devices.

The new ClearSignal RF agnostic design broadens SoC designers’ choice to immediately add Digital Radio capability to mobile devices, while keeping the required low power consumption.

LG Electronics selected the HiFi Audio DSP core and several audio codecs for their new digital television (DTV) product line.

As a Tensilica Xtensions partner, DCT will support customers on Tensilica’s Xtensa processor IP cores, particularly for complex multimedia designs. DCT’s engineers have extensive experience using Tensilica’s processors in SOC designs.

Tensilica reached a milestone in May 2011 with the production of over one billion Tensilica DPUs (dataplane processor units). Tensilica’s licensees are currently shipping at a run rate exceeding 500 million Tensilica DPUs per year, and Tensilica projects its customers will hit the two billion cumulative shipment mark by the end of 2012 – a doubling in volume in just 18 months.

Tensilica is the first audio IP supplier to be awarded DTS Broadcast and DTS DMP (Digital Media Player) certification. The certification, achieved using fully optimized software implementation on Tensilica’s HiFi 2 and HiFi EP Audio DSP IP cores, provides developers of SOCs with a proven solution that reduces the time to market for new, fully compliant designs. Tensilica was also the first IP core supplier to be certified for DTS-HD Master Audio in September of 2009.

Any application that requires extensive data processing will significantly benefit from the breakthrough features – particularly those that quadruple data bandwidth – built into Tensilica’s new Xtensa LX4 dataplane processor (DPU) for SOCs.

The ConnX BBE64-128 provides over 100 GigaMACs performance in 28nm high-performance process technology, easily outperforming all other DSP IP cores on the market.

All the optimized programmable DPUs of the Atlas Reference Architecture are now available for customer evaluation. The Atlas Reference Architecture uses the ConnX BBE16 baseband DSP core coupled with three function-specific DPUs to allow the baseband PHY SOC developer to create a very low power and minimal size PHY system, while enjoying the flexibility of a fully programmable radio, which is vital for competitive multi-standard user equipment devices (handsets) and femtocells.

HiSilicon Technologies, a division of Huawei, has expanded its license (announced February 9, 2010) for Tensilica’s dataplane processors (DPUs), ConnX™ Baseband Engine (BBE16), and HiFi Audio DSP semiconductor IP cores for LTE basestations, handsets and other network infrastructure and customer premise equipment.

Fujitsu Limited has signed a multi-year corporate license for Tensilica’s audio, baseband DSP and dataplane processor units (DPUs), which are a combination of highly efficient DSP and embedded control processor cores for SOC (system-on-chip) design that can be optimized to achieved 10x to 100x speed and power improvements. The contract includes access to Tensilica IP cores for all Fujitsu divisions.
