Santa Clara, Calif. – October 27, 2005 – Tensilica, Inc., today announced that its new Xtensa 6 configurable and extensible processor core has been selected as “Product of the Year” by the organizers of the GSPx Conference. This award recognizes the best new hardware, software, and EDA products that offer the greatest promise for the signal processing and embedded software industries. The award was presented Tuesday at a special ceremony at GSPx at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

The Xtensa 6 processor for system-on-chip (SOC) design features automated configurability from a C/C++ algorithm, approximately 30 percent lower power; and advanced security provisions in MMU-enabled configurations through a “no execute” bit that provides enhanced protection against malicious code.
