Award Recognizes Innovation, Leadership and Performance

Santa Clara, Cal., June 5, 2000 … Tensilica Inc., the Santa Clara-based provider of application-specific processor technology, announced that it had been selected by UPSIDE magazine as one of their Hot 100 Private Companies for 2000.

The UPSIDE Hot 100, now in its 5th year, is a coveted recognition that spotlights the best privately-held technology and Internet companies. Tensilica was selected by the editors of UPSIDE and an advisory panel of venture capitalists, financial analysts and market researchers as one of the top companies in the Telecommunications category. This year, more than 1000 companies were nominated this year for the UPSIDE Hot 100 Awards, which were judged on the company's technological achievements, customer acceptance of products or services, financial performance, industry partnerships, financial backing, management savvy and marketing. The complete list of the UPSIDE Hot 100 Award winners is published in the June issue of UPSIDE, and can be found online at www.upsidetoday.com.

"We evaluated hundreds of great companies spanning a broad range of High Technology and Internet-related market segments, and are pleased to recognize Tensilica among this year's winners," said David Bunnell, UPSIDE CEO and editor. "We look forward to watching the progress of all of the UPSIDE Hot 100 Award winners over the next year or so, and hope they continue being newsmakers as they move from being privately held to possibly becoming publicly traded companies."

Chris Rowen, Tensilica's CEO, said "We are very pleased to have been named one of the "Hot Companies of 2000" by Upside Magazine. There is no question that this award is a signal honor, and we're pleased to be included in such an illustrious group of new enterprises."

“It is faster and easier to design complex SOCs using Xtensa configurable processors - especially when using the XPRES Compiler - than to hand-code complex SOC design elements in hardware using traditional RTL methods. Plus the Xtensa processors are programmable, so it will be valuable for future products and applications.”
