Tensilica Establishes Japanese Subsidiary, Appoints Country Sales Manager

Santa Clara, Calif., May 23, 1999 (Yokohama, Japan, May 24, 1999) .Tensilica Inc., a leader in the emerging market for application-specific processor technology, today announced the formation of the company's first international subsidiary company.  The new entity, Tensilica KK, will be headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, and will initially operate as the company's Japanese sales and support office.

Chris Rowen, Tensilica's president and CEO said "Our XtensaT architecture and technology is ideally suited for sophisticated, leading-edge, high volume consumer products, and this target market description is synonymous with Japan.  The opening of our first international office there confirms and reinforces our commitment to opportunities and customers in the Japanese market.

Simultaneously, the company announced the designation of Mr. Masumi Takahashi as Japan Sales Manager.  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Takahashi was the worldwide account manager for Synopsys Inc., with responsibility for all Fujitsu division.  Previously, he held sales management posts at Teradyne and VLSI Technology.

Mr. Takahashi will report to Bernie Rosenthal, Tensilica's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.  Rosenthal commented "We are delighted to welcome Takahashi-san to Tensilica.  Following our product announcement earlier this year, we have received a great deal of interest from Japan-based manufacturers, and we are confident that he will be instrumental in helping these customers understand and use Xtensa technology."
